Getting started
From buying DockPal to your first belly rub.
Set it up
- Buy DockPal. Head to the pricing page. Dodo Payments handles the purchase and emails your licence key straight after.
- Install it. Download DockPal, open DockPal.dmg and drag DockPal into Applications. It needs macOS 15 Sequoia or later.
- Activate it. Open DockPal and paste the licence key from your receipt email into the window that appears. This needs an internet connection; after that, DockPal keeps working offline.
- Meet your corgi. It appears on your Dock, and a corgi icon appears in your menu bar. Click that icon or right-click your pet to find the settings.
Say hello
- Hover over it for a row of things to do: a treat, a ball, a bath, a butterfly, its tricks or a focus session.
- Click it and it hops. Click its tail and it dashes off.
- Stroke it back and forth for a belly rub, or drag it to pick it up.
- Drag a file onto it and it gobbles it up. The file stays exactly where it was.
Make it yours
- Name, size and outfit. Right-click your pet to choose a name, one of three sizes (Mini, Regular, Big) and any of 16 outfits.
- Teach it tricks. 10 belly rubs teaches it to chase its tail, 15 games of fetch teaches it to play dead, and 20 treats teaches it to high-five.
- Add the widget. Put it on your desktop in small, medium or large. The bigger two have buttons for treat, ball, bath and butterfly.
- Focus together. Start a 25- or 50-minute focus session from the menu bar or your pet, and it stays perfectly quiet.
Change how it behaves
- Reactions: turn any of them off in Settings › Reactions, or turn on “Reduce motion” so it stays in place.
- Hover icons: turn them off in Settings › General, or by right-clicking your pet.
- Opening at login: DockPal does this automatically. Turn off “Launch at login” in Settings › General.
- Meeting reminders and download digging: these are optional and off by default. macOS asks for permission first. The Privacy Policy explains what each one reads.
Moving to a new Mac
Your licence works on one Mac at a time. On the old Mac, choose Settings › About › Licence › Deactivate on This Mac, then activate DockPal on the new one.
