Terms

Short and plain.

Who's behind DockPal

DockPal is made by Vikas Kalwani (“we”). These terms are an agreement between you and us. By downloading or using DockPal, you accept them. If you don't, please don't use it; you can delete it at any time. If you're not old enough to accept a contract where you live, a parent or guardian needs to accept for you.

Using DockPal

Once you've bought DockPal, you get a personal, non-transferable licence to use it on one Mac at a time that you own or control, for personal or work use. We're granting you a licence to use it, not selling it to you, and we keep all other rights in the app, its name and its original art.

To move your licence to a different Mac, choose Settings › About › Licence › Deactivate on This Mac on the old one, then activate it on the new one. Using DockPal on a second Mac at the same time needs a second purchase.

Licence checks

The app contacts Dodo Payments to activate your licence key and to check it's still valid. A refunded or revoked key stops working, and DockPal then asks for a key again. The Privacy Policy lists what these checks send.

What you can't do

Art you add

Anything you make and add to DockPal stays yours. Only load art you have the right to use.

Third-party art and sounds

The corgi is derived from “Cute Doggie” by XAV on LottieFiles and is distributed under the Lottie Simple License. Dog sounds are from SFXMint, under CC0.

Paying for DockPal

You buy DockPal from Dodo Payments, our reseller and merchant of record, and its buyer terms also apply to your purchase. Prices are in US dollars, and tax is added where required. You'll see the price and any extra terms before you pay. We may change the price for new buyers at any time. All purchases are final, as our Refund Policy explains.

Your privacy

The app has no analytics. The Privacy Policy explains what it looks at on your Mac, what's stored there, and exactly what it sends when it goes online.

Updates and support

DockPal checks for updates once a day and offers new versions; you can turn this off in Settings › About › Updates. Every update we release is free. In-app purchases, such as more pets, are paid separately. New versions are listed in the changelog, and these terms cover them too. We may change or stop offering DockPal at any time, and we aren't obliged to provide updates or support, though you're welcome to ask for help.

No warranty

DockPal is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranty that it's fit for a particular purpose, free of errors or uninterrupted. It's a small dog on your Dock; please don't rely on it for anything important, including reminding you about meetings.

Limit of liability

As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost data or profits, arising from DockPal. Our total liability for anything to do with it is limited to the price you paid for it.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the law where you live that can't be waived, including consumer rights.

Ending these terms

You can stop at any time by deleting DockPal. Your licence ends if you break these terms, and you'd then need to delete it. The sections on warranty and liability still apply afterwards.

Trademarks

Apple, the Apple logo, Mac, macOS and Dock are trademarks of Apple Inc. DockPal isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Apple. Other product names belong to their owners.

Changes and contact

If these terms change, the new version will appear on this page with a new date, and it applies to your use of DockPal from then on. Questions? Write to myself@vikaskalwani.com.
